The Family Health Centers Achieve NCQA Recognition for Quality Care
The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), a private, non-profit organization dedicated to improving health care quality, recently recognized the Family Health Centers of Asheville, Arden and Hominy Valley for their achievements in meeting quality standards and excellence in patient care. The three areas of recognition are - Physician Practice Connections (Use of systematic processes & information technology to enhance quality of care); Diabetes Care; and Heart/Stroke Care.
The National Committee for Quality Assurance partners with such distinguished organizations as, the American Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association, to develop evidence-based programs that promote levels of excellence in patient care.
Participation in NCQA programs is voluntary. Therefore, health care providers, who commit to NCQA initiatives, are subject to a detailed and rigorous evaluation process and a system of measurements that recognize the highest levels of skill, quality, breadth of services and follow-up care. Once these standards are met, physicians and/or practices are awarded a qualifications certificate and become recognized for three-years.
NCQA recognized FHC for the following programs:
- Recognition for Physician Practice Connections (Using Information and
Systems to Enhance Patient Care)—The Family Health Centers (March 30, 2007-March 30, 2010)
- Recognition for Diabetes Care–The Family Health Centers (Sept. 5, 2007—Sept. 5, 2010)
